Amita Gujral
Amita Gujral, BA(hons)., MSc. (she/her)
Amita supports both neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals, helping them navigate anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, low self-esteem, perfectionism, motivation, and emotion regulation challenges. She is deeply committed to a neurodiversity-affirming practice that recognizes the unique ways burnout and emotional overwhelm can show up, especially for those with ADHD or autism. With a calm and grounded presence, Amita uses thoughtful questioning to support meaningful exploration, invite reflection, uncover patterns, and open up space for new possibilities. She believes that change begins with feeling truly heard and understood.
As an immigrant, Amita understands how challenging it can be to open up about personal struggles, especially when therapy feels unfamiliar or daunting. She aims to step into your world with empathy, acceptance, and respect, helping you navigate life’s challenges, build meaningful connections, and reconnect with strengths that may feel hard to reach.
With a Master of Science in Psychotherapy from McMaster University and over five years of frontline experience supporting individuals with developmental needs in community settings, Amita offers support that is evidence-based, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s goals and context. She meets clients where they are, respecting their pace and readiness throughout the therapeutic process.
Amita draws from a range of evidence-based modalities to build emotional insight, strengthen coping strategies, and promote authentic, sustainable growth. Her therapeutic foundation is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which offers a structured approach to understanding thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. She also integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into her work, helping clients align with their values, and navigate challenges with greater self-compassion. To support trauma-informed care, Amita also incorporates elements of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), adapting each approach to fit clients’ needs and goals.

Outside of work, Amita enjoys going to comedy shows, swimming laps on warm days, and listening to instrumental music on evening drives.
